FCM Sustainability Communities Conference Feb 9-11

The FCM Sustainable Communities Conference  is being held in Ottawa from February 9 – 11th, with lots of content of interest to asset management professionals.  Bradley Leeman, Chair of CNAM is one of several trainers in a full day workshop developed in partnership by FCM and CNAM.  The workshop  will highlight how AM can help to enable integrated planning  and development decisions that support sustainability.  Lifecycle costing tools used or piloted in Edmonton and Prince George will be featured.   While that workshop is already full, you can still register for a full day training on the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure’s “ Envision”, a decision making tool for sustainable infrastructure; it will allow participants to qualify to pursue ISI Envision certification.  Or join the training on Best Practice in Wastewater Treatment: Lessons from the Green Municipal Fund and the City of Ottawa.  The training includes former CNAM Chair Alain Gonthier, who will speak on asset management and procurement, plus a site visit of the Robert O. Pickard Environmental Centre (ROPEC).

The conference is also offering a workshop on February 11 called Making Natural Assets Count, in which the Town of Gibsons, BC and the Credit Valley Conversation will share their exciting work to bring natural assets more explicitly into municipal asset management practices and infrastructure design.
