CNAM’s renowned AM Awareness Course has been revamped, expanded, and is now available as 2 separate courses!
Throughout 2020 CNAM has been working hard to make its AM awareness courses even better, with updated content and even more interactive exercises. We are very excited to launch the new AM101 and AM102 courses in parallel for 2021.
AM101 and 102 will be run in three separate online sessions (Week 1: AM101, Week 2&3: AM102). Sign up for 101, 102, or both! AM101 is not a pre-requisite for AM102, however we recommend it for anyone new to AM, or for those looking for a refresher of core AM concepts. Those interested in a CNAM membership can also take advantage of our new member bundle where they will receive the free admission to AM101, and a member discount to AM102.

These courses are relevant for all communities and municipalities, regardless of size, location, or progress with asset management. The sessions are appropriate for Elected Officials and Municipal / Community / Organization Staff of all levels. CNAM’s original awareness course has been delivered to over 300 municipal staff and elected officials, both virtually and in-person. Participants overwhelmingly report strong satisfaction with the course and an improved understanding of AM.
AM102 Course Description
This interactive course spans two 3-hour sessions and builds up on the basic AM awareness concepts learned in AM101. Participants will gain a better understanding of key concepts and terminology used in AM, in order to better support Asset Management within their organization. Specifically, this interactive course will take a deeper dive into what asset management entails, outline tangible first steps to begin the implementation process, and explain the 5 core elements of Asset Management as per FCM’s Asset Management Readiness Scale which includes:
· People and Leadership
· Data and Information
· Policy and Governance
· Planning and Decision Making
· Contribution to AM Practice
This course contains interactive exercises, and a participant workbook to help re-enforce learnings.
Electronic Professional Development Certificates for 6 CEC/PDH hours will be awarded upon completion of the course and FCM activity evaluation survey.
*CNAM may postpone or reschedule virtual courses if the minimum threshold of participants is not met.

Please remember that by registering for this event you are purchasing admission for yourself only, unless registration explicitly provides the option to register multiple participants.
*Beginning in 2021, CNAM will no longer be offering printed course materials for its AM virtual courses. The courses have been optimized for virtual delivery and materials will continue to be distributed electronically prior to course commencement. Participants will be responsible for printing and the associated costs should they choose to do so.
Looking for a private course for your organization, association or agency? We can help with that too. CNAM’s course can be delivered ‘on-demand’ and setup privately for your organization / staff / members. We’ve done this for a number of members and partners over the years. Presently, all courses are being held virtually, however we hope to make in person events available again soon. For more information and pricing on this option please email email@example.com.
This initiative is offered through the Municipal Asset Management Program, which is delivered by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and funded by the Government of Canada.
