CNAM Is Embracing Public Infrastructure

Over the past few months we have been looking at how we reach out and include the public infrastructure sector beyond municipalities. This topic was brought forward from the Membership Committee, discussed at the Board Strategy Session on March 1st and revised by the Organizational Sustainability Taskforce (OST) on March 8th.

The OST recommended creating a Board Director position for Broader Public Sector as a way to be inclusive of embracing public infrastructure. This was approved by the Board at the March meeting as a proposed amendment to the Bylaws to be brought to the AGM in May for approval.

We will be updating our member registration page to reflect the greater inclusivity of membership. Current members will receive a survey to identify which sector(s) they represent.  Here is the updated sector list with the sub-categories:

  • Broader Public Sector [Armed Forces, Healthcare, Transportation (Via Rail, Metrolinx), Airport authority, port authority]
  • College/University [Academic/Research/Student, Campus Management]
  • Construction Company
  • First Nation, Indigenous or Metis [community, tribal council, supporting agency]
  • Municipal or Local Government [staff, elected official]
  • Non-Profit Organization
  • Professional Services [engineering, financial, management, training]
  • Provincial or Federal Government and Crown Corporations [staff, elected official]
  • Technology Provider
  • Utility [Power Generation, Local Hydro Distribution, Water Utility]
  • Other [Retired, specify}
