Join us for a panel discussion exploring the future of asset management. Our recent virtual conference and a wide range of asset management events this year have demonstrated how far we have come in asset management, evolving our practices and approaches as a community.

This discussion, with a set of multi-disciplinary panelists, will explore the future of asset management in Canada, identifying important focus areas, skillsets and tools that public infrastructure asset managers need to consider.

Katie Geoghegan is an Asset Management Specialist at Associated Engineering. She brings over nine years of experience implementing asset management and business transformation initiatives in the municipal, provincial and energy sectors including as a consultant, public and private sector practitioner. Currently based in Vancouver, Katie has lived and worked in the Ottawa, Calgary, Regina, Edmonton, and Vancouver region




Matt Dawe is the Vice President of PSD – Research, Consulting, Software. In this role, he oversees each of the 3 practice areas within the organization: Research, Consulting, and Software. This includes the development and implementation of asset management strategic roadmaps, asset management plans, best practice research studies and technical software implementations. He is also responsible for the continual development and enhancement of both Enterprise Asset Management and Enterprise Budgeting Solutions.

He has been with PSD for 15 years with a primary focus on local government. This has provided him with the opportunity to work closely with industry leaders and develop a comprehensive understanding of the services that municipal governments deliver. He has been a speaker at several industry conferences including; GFOA International, MFOA, Canadian Water Network, and IAM. In 2016 he successfully completed the IAM certification from the Institute of Asset Management.







Bogdan Makuc is currently the Project Director of the Municipal Asset Management Program (MAMP) at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. MAMP is a $110 million, eight-year program funded by the Government of Canada aimed at improved municipal capacity in asset management planning practices. Prior to joining FCM, Bogdan spent close to 20 years working in various departments within the federal government, including 15 years with Infrastructure Canada, where he led the design of several major infrastructure programs, including the federal Gas Tax Fund. Bogdan lives in Ottawa with his wife and two children.


Ross Homeniuk is a Partner with KPMG’s Global Infrastructure Advisory and leads its Canadian Asset and Operations Management practice. With more than 25 years of experience, he has dedicated much of his career to helping governments, utilities, public agencies and private companies better understand, plan for, and address their physical infrastructure challenges. Acting as a trusted advisor to organizational leaders, Ross combines business and technical principles with leading practice and technology to strengthen infrastructure management and operations, enhance efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery, and improve the transparency and defensibility of plans and investment decisions. Ross is an active member of the infrastructure and asset management community and advocates for responsible, whole-life asset planning and management through committee involvement, industry membership and participation. He is a member of the Standards Council of Canada’s ISO TC251 – Asset Management (ISO 55000) Standards Mirror Committee, a Fellow of the Institute of Asset Management (IAM) and member of its global Qualifications, Training and Professional Development Committee, a member of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Municipal Asset Management Program (MAMP) Technical Advisory Committee, and a regular contributor and advisor to several industry publications and groups.
