The Canadian Network of Asset Managers (CNAM) has taken its Asset Management Competency Framework for Canadian Communities (AMCF) and expanded it into this comprehensive online resource for improving the AM capacity of public sector organizations in Canada and enhancing the capabilities of AM practitioners in those organizations.

The AM Competency Development Planning Tool

 

The AM Competency Development Planning Tool (“AM Development Tool”) was created to help AM practitioners, their managers, and supporting HR staff work through the steps of the competency development cycle to produce a personalized Competency Development Plan. The AM Development Tool was designed to facilitate:

  • a competency assessment,
  • discussions with supervisors, HR team members, or other team members, and
  • the creation of a realistic and targeted competency development plan, focused on building Asset Management capability.

The Development section of the Web Portal follows the same process and can help provide context for your use of the tool.

How to Use the Tool?

The AM Competency Development Planning Tool is built in Excel. Download the tool below and progress through the tabs of the workbook to define your AM role(s), complete a competency assessment, develop a plan, and track your development progress. A Guidance and Instructions Booklet has been provided to assist you in filling out the tool.
